About RainingFilms

RainingFilms started as a personal frustration.
​
I love films, but every time I sat down to watch one I’d spend ages scrolling, Googling IMDb scores, watching trailers, and second-guessing. Sometimes half an hour would go by before I’d even press play.
​
The usual shortcuts didn’t help. “Best movie” lists recommend the same handful of films again and again, and you end up seeing recommendations for movies you’ve already watched. It felt broken.

So I built RainingFilms.
​
It’s a swipe-based movie discovery app that only recommends well-rated films using verified IMDb scores. Swipe to mark a film as seen or not for you. Once a movie is watched, it never appears again. No repeats, no noise, no decision paralysis.

Double tap any film to see the synopsis, rating and trailer, then decide instantly. Over time, the app becomes more personal as it learns your taste.

RainingFilms also automatically builds your watched history and personal Top Films list without any admin or spreadsheets. Everything happens naturally through swiping.
I built the first version in summer 2025 to solve my own problem. It’s now a clean, mobile-ready PWA with Google login, tracking, ratings, profiles and social features - ready to grow further or be commercialised.
